Kanto Review - The Podium Mall

Besides the catchy name "Kanto" (which means CORNER), the whole concept of the store fascinated me. It really is located at a corner of the mall. That when you go out of the parking lot, you see their sign "Kanto" which for me is just 'spot on'.

They specialize in Filipino food and all their interiors shout filipino art. My eyes had fun in this store. While my eyes certainly enjoyed the unique tastes I have encountered.

For lunch, I had their Laing (PHP 200), Pomelo Shake (php80 - great for summer), adobo fried rice (php100 - serves 2 pax), and sinuglaw (PHP250). I would say the appropriate budget for a person to have a good meal here would be about PHP300. Not bad for a nice place. :)

Their laing was just right, not too much coconut milk and not too spicy either. The adobo fried rice was a bit too salty and dry. It did not taste as yummy as warm rice would. The sinuglaw was great especially the tuna! The marinated pork just had too much fat in it, nonetheless it still tasted great. And to top it all off, some pomelo shake to quench the summer thirst. Though the pomelo shavings were a bit hard, it did contain a citrusy taste.

Its a good place to chill. Try it out. They are located at the Podium Mall, ground floor near Gloria Maris. Happy tripping!
