Gulliver's of San Francisco Review - Quezon City

I often receive the question where is a nice place to have a date? A family gathering? I can think of a lot of places that are quite lovely for such occasions... but the thing about "nice", is it comes with a cost. That is why I'd like to feature Gulliver's. Its a "nice" place with good food + ambiance + service + location + pricing. Its the complete package

They actually have branches within the country but I always go by the west Quezon Ave branch. I like to location and you cannot miss it. Its inside the Great Eastern Hotel. QC branch: 1403 Quezon Avenue, Quezon City, Philippine; Tel No: +63 2 3718282. Makati City branch: 7842 Makati Avenue, Makati City, Philippines; Tel No. +63 2 8982888. Here is a convenient map to help.

Personally I have eaten here more than I have eaten at most of the steak places I have been at <except for Zucchini>. I really like its convenience. The whole store has this old english feel, as you can see on the image below, furnitures are mostly wood and dark drapings. It has a really dark yet romantic mood, its calming and perfect place for dinner. They do have dress policies <no slippers, sando, or any inappropriate clothing>. Their waiters are dressed in old english costumes to match the whole restaurant setup. Usually its packed during dinner, but for lunch or late lunch...I usually just walk right in.

Lovely Table Setup

So below are snippets of their menu.

Their different cuts of beef
I usually go for the Roast Prime Rib of Beef Petite Cut as I cannot eat anything bigger than that with all the side dishes with it. As mentioned above, it is served with Yorkshire Pudding, Spinach Souffle, Baked Potato and Creamed Corn. I absolutely love the Spinach Souffle, I just cannot eat enough of this.

But meat is not all they are serving, they also serve finger foods, starters, soups and seafood.Gulliver's Tidbits <PHP 300> is a must try. It is truly interesting and a lot of the food you will eat here will be a conversation starter.

Of course, they also have other meats, pastas, desserts and beverages to complete it. Besides the steak, I absolutely love their Angel's Hair Marinara with Bay Shrimp <PHP225>, it is really heavenly. The pasta "noodle" is really thin and light, melts in my mouth. I love the tomato paste that goes with it.

While waiting they will serve you some freshly baked bread with butter.

For this visit, I decided to go with Broiled Salmon with Bernaise Sauce. <PHP 500>. It was okay, a bit dry without the sauce and its too small for my appetite.

My companion ordered a Full Bone Cut <PHP 1,180>. The meat is really juicy and the serving size is plentiful to share.

In conclusion, go with the steak and you cannot go wrong here. This place is really friendly and appropriate for dates and special occasions. I highly recommend this to family and friends. Cheers. Happy tripping!
